 The Charleston High School Class of 1988 will be having their 20 year Reunion on Fri. June 25th with a Meet & Greet at The Sports Bar at The Embassy Suites in Charleston at 7:30pm...then Sat. July 26th a Family Fun Picnic to be held at Gorman Shelter at Coonskin Park. Hotdogs will be provided, bring a side dish to share and drinks for your family....the sprinklers will be on for everyone to cool off. Please RSVP to Nickie Assef Welsh or Kathie Hess Crouse. The 5th Annual Greenbrier Challenge is August 2nd at Greenbrier River Trail in Marlinnton Municipal Park in Marlinton, WV and sponsored by The Challenged Athletes of WV. Registration is 7:30a-9am. Thomas Memorial Hospital will host the 27th Annual 5K Walk/Run on Sat. August 9th at 8am at the St. Albans “loop” at the St. Albans Fire & Police Station. The run begins at 8am. and the walk will immediately follow with a start time of 8:05 am.  Registration will be held from 7 am - 7:45 am.  The course features a 3.1 mile route through the St. Albans area.  The entry fee for the event is $15 prior to the day of the race and $20 on race day.  People are encouraged to register prior to the day of the race.  T-shirts and terrific door prizes will be given to race participants and booths with local vendors with health tips and race gear will be on site.  Join us for this fun event that benefits the community! All funds will be donated to the Thomas Memorial Hospital Foundation Community Education Programs. For more information, call Paige Johnson at (304) 766-3707 or go to www.thomaswv.org and click on the 27th Annual 5K Walk/Run logo.

Putnam County Humane Society is hosting a pancake breakfast at Applebees in Teays Valley on Sat. Aug. 9th from 8-10a. Tickets are $5. a piece and will be sold at The Paws & Shop Thift Store in Hurricane, The Nitro Library or at the door the day of the event. Proceeds will go towards their low income spay/nueter program and their energency assistance program. Also on Sat. Aug. 9th from 12p-8p at The J. Henson Senior Center in Hurricane you can have an 8x10 portrait taken of you with your pet. Proceeds again will go to the Putnam Humane Society. To schedule an appt or for more info call 562-0300.

Sunday August 24th Come Ride  With The Nitro Moose Lodge #565 "Endowment Ride"!  The Fund benefits the children of Mooseheart and the seniors of Moosehaven with day to day activities & needs. Registration begins at 8:30am at the Lodge and is $10.00 per Bike. An all you can eat breakfast will be available at just $5.00 per person.  The South Charleston Lions Club sponsors a diabetes support group at 7pm on the 3rd Monday of each month at the 1st Church United Methodist, Myers Avenue and 14th Street in Dunbar.

 The South Charleston Women's Club holds a gift boutique and flea market on the 1st Sunday of every month. For more information call 744-7564.

Muscial jam sessions are back at Hansford Center in St. Albans. Musicians are invited to come and pm with others from 5-9pm on the 3rd Friday of every month. The public is also invited to come and enjoy the "jammin"!! For more information call 722-4621.
